Chris recently worked with a class teaching a section MICA's Flex class...
(Of course, now that the snow has subsided, his stint is ending).

Working with students is always fun, because in many ways as a working professional, designers have the ability to help unveil what the field is like. The "Flex" class provided that ability as well, since I modified a past assigment for the five weeks working with the students.

One of the major problems the students faced and hopefully learned from in the class time was finding "rhythm" of their creative cycle. The talented class of designers, as well as other creatives, need to find their personal pace for creating art, so that they can then work to make the vest art possible. By encuraging them to work through sketch comps (as many as possible), the class aimed at helping the students take risks by actively brainstorming, then going back through their projects for the most successful compositions.

Also, sharing notes on presenting and working the projects to their very best the students presented their work on February 16th. Read more about my reactions to their efforts.
